New Year, New Director, New Website!

Yavapai County Free Library District said goodbye to Barbara Kile in January, when she retired as Director after serving the District in various roles for almost 30 years.  The Board of Supervisors appointed Corey Christians (then Yavapai Library Network Manager) to take on the job.  This new website, is the first public expression of his vision of ever greater resources and service to Yavapai County library patrons.

Service.  It’s is our number one job.  We are working hard to implement procedures and install systems that make us more efficient and effective in providing excellent service to library patrons across the county, as well as furnishing support for District and Yavapai Library Network libraries.

Responsibility.  We take seriously our role as custodians of public funds.  We strive to make every dollar work harder and bring you more value.

Professionalism.  Yavapai County is known for its easy-going culture and small-town lifestyle.  At the District, we aim to honor the rich history and ways of this area, while at the same time, bringing the benefits of cutting edge standards to our work. Our intention is to make your library system the envy of the nation by practicing professionalism in all aspects of our vocation.

Leadership.  We exist to empower the 42 affiliate libraries that make up the Yavapai Library Network (which includes our 13 branch libraries), to be leaders in their communities.  Our goal is to innovate, to create, and to grow into much more than buildings full of books.  For libraries to be relevant in the 21st Century, we must find new ways to serve the public.  Like our pioneer predecessors, who ventured into unknown territories, we must blaze new trails in the ways we provide access to information, foster community-building, and deliver service.

This web site is the beginning.  We designed it to help you find what you need and understand what we do.  We planned it to be accurate and complete, even as it continues to grow and change.  We built it to be well made, useful, clear, and engaging.  And, we hope it will take you somewhere new; someplace of value to you, the patron.  Welcome to the new YCFLD.  Let’s do this!
